I thought new to the site. >>57 It has a nice melody, but it's rather monotone. Make it more dynamic. Add areas of rest, which build up to more epic parts. At least that's what most people do and enjoy. It breathes life into a piece of art. Nanonymous 2020-06-13 00:18:24 No. 144 [D] >>57 I like it nanon. Nanonymous 2020-06-13 00:29:01 No. 146 [D] bunch of songs me and some friends made by using a thing that makes midis out of pictures, uploaded it to myspace for luls https://myspace.com/mackwarren38/music/album/midi-or-die-dj-mack-spacezone-ft. cat-stephans-pt.1-20897416 Nanonymous 2020-06-13 00:48:26 No. 147 [D] >>57 Nice OP. I agree with the other anon though, it need some dynamics. I was playing with it and have found something useful: Repeat the first three structures - Then put a C-major chord (C-E-G). At the same time, go to the next G, then B-C, B-C - After the two B-C, add a D and at the same time a D-major chord (D-F-A). Repeat one more. Then go back to your original composition I've played that here and it's really nice. I don't have a recorder right now, if I had I would post it. Maybe I should use notation to explain better, huh. It's important, in my opinion, to let a chord steep in the background for a bit while your melody plays out, so that each chord transition is that much more impactful. That might just be my taste, though. With that said, building a melody that has staying power requires you to use more than that repeating pattern; try to alternate between "stepwise" and "skipwise" motion (playing adjacent notes in sequence, versus playing distant notes in sequence). Stepwise feels "safe", skipwise can feel "daring" or "dramatic", but overuse it, and your melody can feel disjointed and directionless. The trick is to combine these two to take your listener on a sort of rollercoaster ride where you buildup and release tension, over the course of a song, while adhering to a relatively recognizable motif. here's a riff on your song that I played on piano. It's important to notice the slight modifications to the basic melodic motif as the phrase goes on, as well as bridges that serve to connect each motif. Also I apologize for my stilted playing, and I hope that this makes sense. I'm sloshed. Nanonymous 2020-07-03 00:11:15 No. 364 [D] >>394 >>363 Nanochan Orchestra when? If you have a real piano, I would suggest you use the pedal more often to 'smooth' transitions. You probably already know that, but just pointing out. >>364 We could write something in LillyPond at some point and each perform a piece of it. But idk, music is made to be listened by many people and, as this is a anonymous community, we wouldn't be able to share it. In this track, everything aside from the drums is made from a single sample. It's gonna be hard, but I want you nanons to try and guess what is the sample from. It's a popular maymay track, so I think it's doable with enough autism.
