Andreas Traczyk Accepted Talks: Free and decentralized communications with (GNU) Ring is free software for universal communication which respects the freedoms and privacy of its users. The program allows users to communicate with each other without relying on a centralized server to relay messages. Ring has recently joined GNU. It is still mostly developed by Savoir-faire Linux, a Free Software consulting company based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is based on SFLPhone, which was a SIP/IAX2 compatible softphone for GNU/Linux. The presentation will take a look at the growing privacy concerns related to modern communications software and explore Ring’s solutions.
